A Thanet Blog List
This is a new blog looking at Thanet; why not take a look at the other blogs also looking at Thanet? I took a look. Any blogs that had not updated in over a year, I counted as dead and so they did not make this list.
So, in no particular order, here are the Thanet blogs that I found.
Thanet Online
Thanet Online is a blog that has been going for ages. It is run by Michael from Michael’s Bookshop. It was around the last time I had a Thanet blog. It’s no surprise then that Google showed me Michael’s blog first.
The Visit Thanet Blog
Next up is the Visit Thanet Blog. The blog features some great pictures from around Thanet. Most of the blog’s posts seem to be about people going out and about and enjoying the area. That makes sense given Visit Thanet aims to get people to come and visit.
Blog List Not Found
Google’s third link tried to take me tothanetbloglist.co.uk which could not be found. A quick check shows that the domain name is now unregistered. You can’t win them all, I guess.
The Isle of Thanet News
The Isle of Thanet News is an actual professionally reported local news. I’m counting this one because it runs WordPress. I’m guessing all local blog readers know about Kathy’s news blog.
Visit Ramsgate
Visit Ramsgate is like Visit Thanet (ish) but just for Ramsgate.
Thanet Creative
Thanet Creative is the blog of a local charitable group that has a strong focus on writing – especially storytelling and poetry. I should know. I write posts for it. They run a weekly writers’ group.
The RSPB Thanet Local Group blog
The RSPB Thanet Local Group blog is a blog by the Thanet RSPB. The clue is in the name. It seems to give little tidbits from meetings and trips out (one would assume to look at birds). The blog features some nice wildlife photos that are worth looking at.
Johnson Marketing
This is a blog of a marketing and SEO company from Thanet. It is up to date so I guess it makes the list. I felt the blog was a bit self-serving. Perhaps more about SEO than providing deeply insightful articles. That’s not a bad thing just not especially interesting. I’ll give them a second look in a month or two just in case my initial impression was atypical.
Council News Room?
Does Thanet District Council’s newsroom page count?
Thanet Green Party has a blog
Thanet Green Party was the only political party to show up in my search so they get a mention, I guess. I suspect that now the elections are over, the blog will slow right down.
That’s it
That was all I found. Well, I found a lot of blogs that have not been updated in a while but these were the active ones.
I remember Thanet blogging to be a lot more lively than this. Most of the blogs I knew have gone.

I’ll probably publish another list when enough people have shown up to tell me all about the Thanet blogs that I missed. Or, eventually, I’ll do the search again to see if the top three changed and if any of the unloved blogs came back to life.
Thanet Views is a blog that mixes photoraphy, technology, and a little local politics with a focus on #Thanet, #Kent, #UK.
